Editorial Policy
How BetSorted researches, scores, and updates bookmaker reviews — and how our commercial relationships are kept separate from our editorial decisions.
Short version: bookmakers cannot pay to improve their score or ranking on BetSorted. Our reviews are based on a defined scoring framework that anyone can read below. Commercial relationships are disclosed on every page where they apply.
Our Mission
BetSorted exists to give South African punters accurate, actionable information about licensed bookmakers. The SA betting market has grown significantly, and so has the amount of low-quality affiliate content that prioritises commission over accuracy. We built BetSorted to be the site we wished existed.
Editorial Independence
BetSorted's editorial team operates independently from our commercial team. This means:
- Bookmakers cannot pay to receive a higher rating or more prominent placement in our comparison tables
- Having (or not having) an affiliate agreement with a bookmaker does not affect their review score
- We have published critical reviews of bookmakers we earn commissions from
- We remove bookmakers from our site if they lose their licence, receive sustained negative community reports, or if our team finds evidence of unfair practices
How We Review Bookmakers
Every bookmaker review on BetSorted follows the same framework. We score each operator across seven categories:

Our Review Process
Licence Verification
We confirm the bookmaker holds a valid South African provincial gambling board licence before including them on the site. Unlicensed operators are not listed, regardless of commission rates offered.
Odds Research
We compare odds on 10+ concurrent SA sporting events across major markets (PSL, EPL, URC, SA20) and calculate an average odds quality score relative to the best available market price.
Payment Testing
We verify which South African payment methods are supported for deposits and withdrawals. Where possible, we test or verify payout timelines through community reports and direct testing.
Bonus Analysis
We read the full terms and conditions of every bonus — not just the headline number. We flag wagering requirements, minimum odds restrictions, and time limits in plain language.
Community Feedback
We monitor South African betting communities (forums, Reddit, social media) for consistent complaints or praise about specific bookmakers. Persistent issues are reflected in our scores.
Regular Updates
Reviews are updated when bookmakers change their terms, bonuses, or payment methods. All pages display a "last reviewed" date. Outdated pages are flagged for review.
Commercial Disclosure
BetSorted earns revenue through affiliate marketing. When you click a bookmaker link and create an account, we may receive a commission from the bookmaker. This is disclosed in the footer of every page on the site.
What this means for you
- Using BetSorted and clicking our links costs you nothing extra
- Bookmaker bonuses and offers you see on our site are the same as going direct
- You can use our calculators and odds tools without ever signing up to anything
What this does NOT mean
- We do not accept payment to write positive reviews
- We do not change scores based on commission rates
- We do not list unlicensed operators regardless of commission offered
Corrections Policy
If you find incorrect information on BetSorted — wrong bonus terms, outdated payout times, or inaccurate odds data — please contact us. We take accuracy seriously and will update incorrect information promptly. Significant corrections are noted on the affected page.
